Avast antivirus protection
Avast is one of the biggest names in the security industry. It is known for high-quality malware detection and web protection and provides an array of other security features including a boot-time scanner and a virtual desktop. The software also works on various devices and offers an absolutely free VPN service.
It is available in three different plan types – Protection, Privacy and Performance – depending on the number of devices you require to cover. In addition to PCs, it can also be installed on Mac and Android devices.
Avast detected all malware on the systems that we test. This is a feat of excellence considering that the software detects more than 1.5 billion threats every month.
The software’s fast boot-time scanning is a different feature. It will scan your system for potentially hazardous files prior to Windows loads. It took me less than an hour to run the complete scan on a PC that was running Windows 10.
The Avast product also includes several other security tools aimed at protecting your data. Its Sensitive Document Shield can be used to detect sensitive documents like invoices, tickets and resumes. It did not detect any sensitive files on the computer I tested it on. However, it did detect sensitive documents.
Avast also offers an email Guardian, which can scan your email account for suspicious attachments and phishing sites. It also comes with a feature dubbed Bank Mode, which provides the user with a virtual desktop protected from keystroke loggers and screenshot attempts by third-party apps. Avast’s privacy policies are also excellent. The company states that it only collects data necessary for security. The company’s analytics business Jumpshot sells data only after it has been removed from the database.
